Home Photography Checklist This checklist will help you prepare for your shoot. It's interactive so you can check off items as you go through the list, or you can download a .pdf copy that can be printed. Checklist.pdf Prior to Scheduling Check the weather Check the position of the sun Exterior Close all windows Park vehicles on the street or in a closed garage Rake the yard Remove all children’s and pet’s toys Put away all garbage cans Put away all tools and supplies Close all gates and garage doors Remove all pool toys, visible cleaning supplies and equipment Keep pets out of the yard during photo/video shoot Interior Clear the clutter… Put it away in a closet or cabinet, not just in another room Clean the house… all the nooks and crannies Turn on all lights and lamps Close all windows and open curtains and blinds Hide any visible cords Put way all children’s and pet’s toys Living/Family Room Clear the mantle of personal photos Turn off televisions Light a fire in the fireplace Replace any large family portraits with generic artwork Straighten book shelves Straighten rugs and throw pillows Dining Room Set the table or clear everything except a small centerpiece Kitchen Remove all refrigerator magnets, photos, artwork, etc. Clear the top of the refrigerator Clear the counter tops Put away all portable appliances Put away all cleaning supplies Put away all towels, including wash rags and dish towels Hide garbage cans in closet or pantry Put away all pet's water and food bowls Bedrooms Make beds Remove anything stored under beds if there is no dust ruffle to cover it Put away all shoes and clothing Clear bedside tables, leaving only lamp, clock and one or two books Clear or straighten dresser Straighten book shelves Walk-In Closets Tidy up by organizing/sorting clothing and shoes Matching hangers are a nice touch Bathrooms Open shower curtains Put toilet seat down Put out fresh, matching towels Hide all bath products from tubs/showers, including bars of soap, shampoos, washcloths, etc. Hide all bath products from the sink, including hand soap, makeup, etc. (decorative soaps can stay) Hide all portable appliances, including hair dryers, curling irons, etc. Hide all air fresheners, including those that plug in Hide all cleaning products Home Office Hide all visible cords Put away all paperwork Hide facial tissue Pets It is the homeowner’s or agent’s responsibility to keep pets out of the shot Put away all toys, food and water bowls, beds and litter boxes
